Beautifully Bronzed

Hello Beauties,

There are bronzers for all skin tones and…darker complexions are not to be excluded. Don’t think for a minute that because you already sport a bronze base or that gorgeous golden glow that you have no use for a bronzer. We brown girls can most certainly pull off that sun-kissed finish, and look great doing it.

Bronzers are used in so many ways and various complexions can take advantage of gaining that sun-sational look w/o the harmful effects of natural sun rays. With lighter skin hues…a bronzer can add warmth, even out the skin tone and add a bit of lumination where the skin may seem dull and lifeless. With deep, rich skin tones…bronzers can be used to highlight more prominent features (such as cheekbones) and define areas (contouring the lower cheeks and chin areas)

When choosing a bronzer, the correct shade is a MUST! Whatever your complexion, make sure the bronzer isn’t too dark so that it appears unnatural or muddy. Also, do not go too light because your skin will look ashen and ghost like. Stay clear of bronzers that are too glittery and if you must have a little lumination use something w/ a slight shimmer. (Note: If you have oily skin and are trying not to appear even more oily…go for a more matte finished bronzer).  Shades of bronzers should be no more than 2 hues darker than your original/natural complexion. Some really great tones to look for are: Terra Cota, Bronze, Amber, Golden/Honey just to name a few.

When applying bronzer remember it’s as simple as applying blush. Use a very fluffy brush and apply on areas that would normally be kissed by the sun – concentrate on the bridge of your nose, cheekbones, forehead and chin. Don’t forget to blend, blend, blend. There is nothing worse than someone pointing and laughing at your faux tan.

Beauties remember the more natural the look, the better. You don’t want to appear sunburned or look like you had a mishap and fell asleep on the tanning table. Also, try skipping the foundation and just get your glow on. You may find this Summer that less is actually best. *wink*
