Instructions to my Daughter

This is a poem I wrote today for my 6yr old daughter. As I was sitting I thought about all the things I’d like to say to her someday before I leave this Earth. Here are my thoughts beauties =)

 sit down little mama/

let me talk to you for a minute/

i was so sure of what to say sooo… let me begin it/

when i look in yours eyes…baby i see a spark/

it shines so bright, it can penetrate the darkest dark/

a spark of ambition, curiousity, promise, and hope/

let me be the first to reassure you/

baby you’re dope/

don’t let no one ever tell you different/

how do you feel about you?/

that’s the only evaluation you HAVE to go through/

you’re a princess, you’re precious, you’re intelligent too/

aspire to be more in life than some man’s boo/

you have the potential to conquer the world/

you’re the diamond in the rough, a precious pearl/

work hard in life, don’t be a slob/

there’s nothing wrong with keeping a job/

dream always and believe in urself/

invest your money, spend wisely, and take care of your health/

love hardddd no matter if you’re let down/

cuz if one man does wrong, your “one” will come around/

laugh constantly, life is serious enough on its own/

so many lose sight of that fact when they become grown/

enjoy every second because time’s not our friend/

and unfortunately, we don’t get to do this again/

make decisions that are best for you/

because this life…on your own, you go through/

keep God first, let him direct your paths/

and remember…the less wrinkles you’ll have, the more you laugh/

be understanding, slow to judge, and compassionate/

because this is the way you’d like to be dealt with/

respect the elderly, listen to what they say/

cuz baby you too will be elderly one day/

there is soooo much to say/

one day i’ll pass away/

just keep in mind the words i’ve said to you/

and when you have your children/

tell them this too/

i have so many great, big dreams/

that i pray God will bless me to see/

God willing maybe those dreams will come to pass/

but please remember these words because these could be my last
